As one who is relatively fresh off the boat the theme tune to this programme is not as ingrained in my psyche as it is with those who’ve been here longer. In fact it took me a while to work out that this tune is not the tacky, but fun song “Good old Hockey Game.” That’s how new I am.
But for once I agree with The Politic, it probably is time to move on. I mean come on it’s not even been updated for a more contemporary feel. Match of the Day in Wales and England had a theme tune that was much loved by the people including me and it was jazzed up a bit.
World of sport in the UK had a great tune, but that was done away with when the programme was deemed to be dated.
It’s probably all part of that hankering for the rose tinted version we have of the past. Dump it and put the seed money down for new talent to get started. I love the idea of encouraging creativity, so “Out with the old. In with the new!”
Just for a laugh here’s are a song that would rival “The Good old Hockey Game” for tackiness and sheer fun.
