If that had happened in N America the Bobby would have been accused of being complicit in a state inspired cover up of an extra terrestrial event. Roswell was probably just such an event, but add a decent ladle of cold war paranoia and a dose of “I’m scared of Johny foreigner” and boom…. Cover up, Area 51 et al.
Great response by the Heddlu De Cymru, totally disarm the lunatics by assuming that the caller was a nutter or a drunk out to waste police time.
