Could a situation ever get more fucked up? I know defence procurement is a way to shuffle public largess into private pockets, but usually the product fits in with existing infrastructure.
- It can’t land on existing runways – easy we’ll put a parachute on the back to help slow it down.
- It won’t do one lap of the track without refueling – not a problem we’ll refuel it in the air.
- The refueling equipment doesn’t match our existing tankers – okay so we’ll change the existing nozzles or even the whole plane.
- It’s only got one engine, two is good on those long arctic flights – not worry we will make it “unbreakdownable”.. no really.
- It’s delivery date has not been guaranteed – err err
This is pathetic and you know it will cost at least double in the long term. This is what happens when adolescents get to play war and tendering procedures are ignored.
The F35 is not the weapons system for Canada, quite besides the point that it is a joke it doesn’t fit.
Update
More information on why the F35 is not for us.
