The whiners at the Heartland Institute really are not concerned about what is really happening in the world. They are a vehicle for funneling cash to people who want the cash and are willing to say anything if someone will pay them the right amount. The folk who provide the cash are too rich, too lazy or just too unconcerned with the future to change with a changing world and are willing to pay for a few useful idiots to “create a controversy.”
Double standards, false equivalencies and outright lies are the methods these folk use, but they really don’t like applying their own standards to themselves.
Recently DeSmogBlog received some damning Heartland Institute e-mails and published them completely on their web-site. The response from the Heartland Institute (HI) was to say they were stolen and that one of them was a complete forgery. (How one can can steal something one has created is beyond me, but that’s HI logic for you.)
When scientists e-mails were hacked HI not only published them glee fully, they published partial and carefully selected e-mails in order to remove the context from them. They then looked to remove the scientists from their employment based on the created innuendo. There was no worry shown by these driven lackeys of the illegality or the harm they would do then. In a nice turn the scientists the HI tried to ruin back then, have sent a letter to the Guardian in the UK with their views. their faith in decency is shown in the last paragraph,
We hope the Heartland Institute will begin to play a more constructive role in the policy debate. Refraining from misleading attacks on climate science and climate researchers would be a welcome first step toward having an honest, fact-based debate about the policy responses to climate change.
Unfortunately, I fear, these scientists have forgotten who they are dealing with. The truth doesn’t matter for all of those who oppose their work. Stopping them is what concerns the HI, it’s backers and their useful idiots.
