Danielle Smith channels 12 year old Grover Norquist and drops the ball – What is it with stupid people making stupid promises?

Smith and her band of idiots have decided that a pledge not to raise taxes will be a vote winner in Alberta.

  • Let’s forget that Grover Norquist invented his pledge when he was a precocious 12 year old and really how many 12 year olds would you want deciding governmental policy?
  • Let’s forget that this is a singularly unoriginal and yet another imported piece of bullshit.

Let’s just look at what declaring that you’ll not raise taxes if elected says about you.

  1. You have seen the future and you know that nothing unexpected will happen that might bust your budget.
  2. You haven’t seen the future but are pretty sure that everything will be okay in the long run.
  3. You haven’t seen the future, but you really don’t think people should have to pay for any increased expenditure that occurs in their name. Hmm isn’t this called welfare or even socialism or privilege or elitism or just being entitled selfish gits?

So either you are an omniscient clairvoyant or you are a hopeful dolt or a populist parasite who expects later generations to cover their tab. Failing any of these options, you could just be an unimaginative jackass who thinks we should import more economic nonsense from the country who nearly bankrupted the entire world and still doesn’t want to face the reality of paying their bill.

An honest leader would have said, “hey I have no idea what the future holds and as such it would be wrong of me to rule out any measures open to a government that may be required to overcome any future situation we find ourselves in.”

Danielle Smith and her gang of buffoons won’t be getting my vote if this pledge is really part of their campaign. Why? Because it isn’t the position a rational leader could or should take. And forgive me if this sounds all ivory tower and stuff, but I want my leader to actually reside in reality.
